Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she was awarded an Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the only girl of her homemaker mother and high-ranking executive of her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood in the company of four brothers. In her early years she longed to be an official in the courtroom. But after she graduated from high school, and moving into New York in the 1980s then she started modeling. In 1981, she appeared as an innocent teenager in All My Children. Delaney is a well-known actress, appearing involved in numerous television dramas, and TV films. She has not had a good or satisfying personal life. The accomplished actress battled alcoholism and had two marriages that failed. In 2005, she lost custody of the sole child that she had.
